Home | Family Home Child Care Looking for Regulated Family Home Child Care?
Our Agency supports regulated home child care programs, which means child care providers are required to:
- Follow the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development's requirements for safety;
- Offer a nutritious, full-day menu (including morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack) that follows Canada’s Food Guide;
- Provide educational and engaging programming to support your child's early growth and development;
- Offer subsidized child care spaces to eligible families (earning under $70,000 per year). For subsidy information, please visit https://www.ednet.ns.ca/.../families/childcaresubsidy.shtml;
- Reduce fees to parents through the Universal Child Care Benefit (https://childcarenovascotia.ca/), which currently means a reduction of $8.25-$8.50 per day for all families, regardless of income. No application required!; and
- Have monthly in-home visits to ensure they are meeting all requirements of the provincial Day Care Act.
We offer our Family Home Child Care Providers connections, support, ongoing education, and development to offer the best child care possible. This adds up to high-quality, affordable, and accessible child care here in Cape Breton.
